On August 30, Consul General Hong Lei met with U.S. Congressman Dave Trott in Troy, Michigan.

Consul General Hong Lei said that in recent years, exchanges and cooperation between China and Michigan enjoys rapid growth. Bilateral trade and investment cooperation are very fruitful. Cultural and people-to-people exchanges are becoming robust. Michigan has become a model for cooperation between China and the Midwest, which reflects booming development of China-US relations. Currently, China and the US are committed to building a new model of major country relations. Bilateral cooperation between the two countries enjoys broad prospects. The Chinese side hopes that Congressman Trott can continue his support in deepening Michigan's cooperation with China and promote the development of China-US relations.

Congressman Trott said he was pleased to see increasing Chinese investment in Michigan and the US. He pointed out that the US and China are not only important trading partners but also have maintained critical cooperation in international affairs. The US and China should increase dialogues and strengthen trade and economic relations so as to further realize mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation.
