Consul General Hong Lei Visits District Office of Congressman Walorski of Indiana

On March 27, Consul General Hong Lei visited the district office of Congressman Jackie Walorski in Mishawaka, Indiana and met with District Director Brian Spaulding.

Consul General Hong Lei said that the relationship between China and Indiana has long enjoyed sound developed. Vice President Pence has actively promoted cooperation between the two sides and paid a successful visit to China when he was the governor. Governor Holcomb has also proposed to continue to deepen cooperation and exchanges with China. China is Indiana's third largest trading partner and sixth largest export market, with a bilateral trade volume of nearly US$10 billion. Lilly and other Indiana companies have good business performance in China and consider China their strategic market. Chinese companies have invested nearly US$300 million in Indiana, creating more than 800 jobs. More than 10,000 Chinese students are studying in Indiana universities. Indiana's cooperation with China reflects the strong momentum of China-US cooperation. As the largest developing country and the largest developed country, China and the US can find important opportunities in each other's development and prosperity and enjoy broad prospects of cooperation. The Chinese side hopes that Congressman Walorski will continue to support the development of China-US relations and Indiana's cooperation with China for the benefits of the two peoples.

Director Spalding said that US-China relations are very important. The bilateral economic and trade cooperation has been vigorous and Indiana enterprises have strong interest in entering the Chinese market. Indiana universities and local communities welcomes the Chinese students who come here for further education. The district office would like to keep in touch with the Chinese side to jointly promote Indiana's relations with China as well as US-China relations.
