2017-11-03 07:22

On November 3, Consul General Hong Lei visited the Denver Office of Senator Cory Gardner and met with the new District Director Andy Merritt.

Consul General Hong Lei introduced the 19th CPC National Congress, saying that cooperation and exchanges between China and Colorado have maintained a good momentum. China has made more and more investments in Colorado and the number of Chinese students studying in Denver is increasing. As China entered a new era, the Communist Party of China will lead the Chinese people to accomplish the building of a moderately prosperous society, and comprehensively build a strong modern socialist country that is prosperous, democratic, culturally advanced, harmonious and beautiful. A more open and prosperous China will provide the world with more certainty and positive elements, create more development opportunities, and inject more vitality into and open new prospects for China-US relations. The Chinese side wishes Senator Gardner could continue to care about China-US relations and do more things that are conductive to bilateral relationship.

Merritt welcomed Consul General Hong Lei and said that Senator Gardner, as Chairman of the Subcommittee on East Asia, the Pacific and International Cyber Security Policy under the Senate Committee on Foreign relations, attaches great attention to China-US relations, values China’s role in tackling the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue, and supports China’s coordinating and cooperating efforts on regional and international hot-spot issues. The District Office is willing to keep in touch with the Consulate General, and stay committed to enhancing mutual understanding and cooperation between American and Chinese people.
