Consul General Hong Lei Attended Industry 4.0 Forum

On November 9, Consul General Hong Lei attended and addressed the Industry 4.0 Forum in Detroit, Michigan. Counsellor Jiang Dehua also attended the forum.

In the speech, Consul General Hong Lei said that as information technology and manufacturing become increasingly intertwined, a new wave of industrial revolution featuring smart manufacturing has come into being. China, like other countries, has seized this opportunity and rolled out the Made in China 2025 strategy and relevant policies and measures in an attempt to build itself into a world manufacturing power. The Chinese government highly values talents in manufacturing industry and sees that as the foundation for becoming a world manufacturing power. China proposes to establish a sound mechanism that selects, uses and trains talents in a scientific way and speed up the cultivation of skillful professionals in technology, management and other fields.

Consul General Hong Lei said that while designing and making the Made in China 2025 strategy, China adheres to the principles of wide participation, openness and transparency, treats Chinese and foreign companies equally, encourages foreign companies to seize the opportunities brought by China’s manufacturing industry development and invest in high-end manufacturing, industrial design and innovation, engineering consultation, modern logistics, inspection and certification among other manufacturing related services, so as to realize common development of both Chinese and foreign companies.

Consul General Hong Lei said that China and the US have been keeping in-depth communication and exchanges in implementing the Made in China 2025 strategy and the National Networking of Manufacturing Innovation strategy. Sino-US advanced manufacturing cooperation has been included in the outcomes of the 8th round of China-US Strategic and Economic Dialogue. It is hoped that American and Chinese companies could deepen cooperation in advanced manufacturing and achieve win-win result.

The Industry 4.0 Forum, held by Automation Alley in Michigan, covers topics like AI, 3D printing, cloud computing, Industrial Internet of Things and augmented reality technology. Over 400 representatives from government, enterprises, universities, research institutes and associations participated in the forum.
