2018-03-07 23:30

On March 7, 2018, Consul General Hong Lei visited the Lake Forest Academy (LFA) in Illinois, and met with Head of School Dr. John Strudwick.

Dr. John Strudwick said that in recent years, the LFA has engaged in multiple exchanges and cooperation projects with China as part of the school’s internationalization effort. Under his initiative, the school has set up a Chinese language course, which has become one of the most popular foreign language courses among LFA’s students. Every year, around 10 Chinese students are admitted to the school through a rigorous examination process. These Chinese students have performed very well at school. The LFA also made a donation to build a “hope primary school” in China’s Jiangxi province to support the development of rural education in China. Dr. Strudwick added that China’s development has profound impact on today’s world. The LFA attaches great importance to cooperation with China and is willing to deepen exchanges with China.

Consul General Hong Lei said that as a renowned and time-honored high school in Illinois, the Lake Forest Academy has promoted Chinese language education and been actively committed to exchanges and cooperation with China. This fully showcases the school’s global vision under the leadership of Dr. Strudwick. LFA’s recent development is impressive. We hope that LFA will continue to strengthen Chinese language education, promote exchanges between Chinese and American youth, and strengthen mutual understanding and friendship between the two countries.

Accompanied by Dr. Strudwick, Consul General Hong Lei met with Chinese students at LFA, and learned about their study and life. Consul General Hong Lei encouraged the Chinese students to achieve all-round development through their study, and serve as young ambassadors of friendship between the two countries.

Founded in 1857, LFA is a renowned private high school in Illinois with around 460 students. There are 60 Chinese students studying in LFA, accounting for 50 percent of international students at the school.
