Acting Consul General Liu Jun Visited Illinois' Second Largest City Aurora
2018-12-04 23:32

On December 4th, 2018, Acting Consul General Liu Jun brought a visiting team to Illinois’ second largest city, Aurora. He met with Mayor Richard C. Irvin and all the members of the City Council, visited the Chicago Premium Outlets, Aurora Airport, Pacific Square, Amos Industries Inc. and other sites. Commercial Counselor Zou Xiaoming, along with representatives from various member companies of the China General Chamber of Commerce-Chicago, such as China Bank, China Telecom, China Southern Airlines, Suparna Airlines, and Quanta Freight attended that day’s events.

Upon meeting Mayor Irvin and the members of the City Council, Acting Consul General Liu Jun said that Aurora, with its graceful scenery and great potential, is a warmly inviting and deeply memorable city. Three days prior, at their meeting in Argentina, Presidents Xi Jinping and Trump formally agreed to put a hold on the implementation of new tariffs. China and the US shared the great responsibility of promoting world peace and prosperity. As such, sub-national cooperation between both countries is not only critical, but also full of potential. It is encouraging to see that investments from Chinese-funded enterprises have boosted many Aurora businesses. In the future, China and Aurora shall establish friendly city relations and extend cooperation.

Mayor Irvin said that Aurora, as Illinois’ second largest city, possesses an advantageous geographical location and a thriving multicultural patchwork, among which Asian Americans comprise the largest group. Windfall Group, Amos Industries Inc. and other Chinese companies have not only graced the city of Aurora with investment, but also with something that will play an even bigger role in the future development of the city—Chinese culture. He hoped that China and the US can quickly resolve their trade conflict. Aurora will take full advantage of the opportunity to cooperate and establish solid relations with China, and in the process, bring Aurora to ever greater heights of development.
