On February 20th, 2019, Acting Consul General Liu Jun met with Executive Director Leroy R. Allala of Chicago Sister Cities International (CSCI) at the Consulate General.

Acting Consul General Liu Jun remarked, “In recent years, trade-related and cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and Chicago have deepened. As sister cities, China's Shanghai and Shenyang have carried out many exchanges with Chicago, effectively promoting China-US sub-national cooperation and non-governmental relations. The Consulate General looks forward to maintaining close relations with CSCI and working together to promote ever more bilateral exchanges.”

Director Allala outlined CSCI’s work plan for 2019. He then introduced the organization, commenting that Chicago has 28 sister cities around the world, ranking first in the US in terms of quantity and activity. He remarked that under any and all circumstances, Chicago will never abandon its values of inclusiveness and openness and, as always, will continue to strengthen international exchanges and deepen the relationships with its sister cities.
