On March 9th, Consul General Zhao Jian met with Ms. Sarah Lande of Iowa, a great friend of China, at the Consulate General. Deputy Consul General Liu Jun was present at the meeting.

Consul General Zhao spoke highly of Ms. Lande’s contributions to the U.S.-China, especially Iowa-China relations. He emphasized that China attaches great importance to sub-national exchanges and cooperation with the U.S. and cherishes the friendship between the Chinese and American people. He looked forward to working with Ms. Lande and other old friends of China in enhancing cultural and people-to-people links between the two sides to further consolidate the foundation of China-U.S. friendship and create a better future for bilateral relations.

Ms. Lande welcomed Consul General Zhao to his new post and happily recalled the two visits President Xi Jinping made to Iowa in 1985 and 2012, as well as the many visits she had made to China over the years. Ms. Lande said she was deeply touched by the friendly sentiments President Xi and the Chinese people have shown towards her and the State of Iowa. The Chinese and American people share the same dreams of pursuing better lives and making friends all over the world. She expected to see this friendship to grow stronger and deeper and would continue to actively promote cultural, educational and local exchanges between the two sides to further strengthen bilateral friendship.
