Honorable Secretary White,

Colleagues of the Consular Corps,

Representatives of the Asian Pacific communities,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

     It is my great honor to attend the Annual Asian Pacific Heritage Month Reception at the kind invitation of the Honorable Secretary White.

     First, I wish to express my deep appreciation to Secretary White for hosting this wonderful event, which has evidently shown us the great

 importance Secretary White and the State Government have attached to the Asian Pacific communities.

     Secretary White is a great leader with vision and a true friend to the Asian Pacific communities. He has consistently working hard in pro-

moting the multi-cultural society in the State of Illinois and serving the Asian Pacific communities with great sincerity and passion. He enjoys

highest respect in the Chinese community, and I am sure, in the whole Asian Pacific communities.

     Today, we gather here to celebrate the Asian Pacific heritages and the achievements of Asian Pacific communities. In his wonderful re-

marks just now, Secretary White has spoken highly of the contributions by the Asian Pacific communities to the harmony, development and

prosperity of Illinois. I believe that the Asian Pacific communities not only have so much to be proud of themselves for the past, but also have

much more to offer to the social and economic development of Illinois in future.

     Today, we are here also to express our gratitude. We thank the State leaders and the Government of Illinois for their support to the deve-

lopment of Asian Pacific communities . In particular, we thank Secretary White for his great contribution. Let's give him a big applause. Thank

you, Secretary White.

     I believe the State Government of Illinois will continue to provide its strong support to the Asian Pacific communities in the years to come.

     In closing, I wish the Asian Pacific American Heritage Month a complete success.
