Deputy Consul General Kun Lu Attended the Opening Ceremony of China-US Sculpture Park

The opening ceremony of China-US Sculpture Park was held in the city of Overland Park,Kansas on the morning of November 5, 2011. Distinguished guests from various circles of the city totaling around 100 people participated in the ceremony. 
Invited by the organizing committee of the event, Chinese Deputy Consul General in Chicago Kun Lu made remarks at the ceremony, saying the design and creation of this park was to commemorate Chinese settlement in the US for the past century. As the first China-US Sculpture Park in the United States,it offers the local people an access to the combination of Eastern and Western culture, a base for educating  children with the history of Chinese immigration and a stage for promoting Sino-American relations through cultural exchange programs.
The project of the sculpture park was initiated by a local Chinese immigrant artist Mr. Kwan Wu. It won support from the city of Guangzhou, China and the City of Overland Park, Kansas, US as well as the Chinese Consulate in Chicago. So far, 11 sculptures of Chinese artists have been installed in the park and more art pieces are expected to come in future.
