Bush meets Chinese envoy for Reagan's funeral

US President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney met on Saturday with Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing respectively in Houston, who attended the state funeral for former US president Ronald Reagan as a special envoy of Chinese President Hu Jintao.

They expressed gratitude to the Chinese government for sending a special envoy to the state funeral, and voiced the US willingness to join hands with the Chinese side in further promoting Sino-US relations.

Chinese Ambassador Yang Jiechi was present during the talks.

The state funeral for Reagan was held Friday in the National Cathedral in western Washington D.C. Reagan, who was US president from 1981 to 1989, died on Saturday last week at the age of 93 after a decade-old struggle with Alzheimer's disease.
