On February 14, Chinese Consul General Zhao Weiping paid a courtesy call on Hon. Jesse White, Secretary of State of Illinois. 

      Consul General Zhao expressed appreciation to Secretary White for his consistent support to the Chinese community in Illinois, as well as his efforts in promoting cooperation between China and Illinois. Zhao emphasized the huge potential in bilateral cooperation and China's interest in furthering the existing good relations with Illinois.  

     Secretary White welcomed Zhao to assume the duty of Chinese Consul General to Chicago. Mr. White was pleased with the progress in the relations between Illinois and China and renewed his commitment to the local Chinese community and Illinois-China relations.
