Consul General Zhao Weiping attended the Signing Ceremony for Student Exchange Program between the University of Chicago and Wanxiang America Corporation

On April 23, Chinese Consul General Zhao Weiping attended the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding between the University of Chicago and Wanxiang America Corporation on the Wangxiang Ambassador Fellows Program. Also present were University of Chicago President Robert J. Zimmer, former Mayor of Chicago Richard M. Daley, Executive Vice President of Chicago University David Greene, and President of Wanxiang America Corporation Ni Pin, .

Consul General Zhao in his remarks congratulated the launching of the program, and stressed that mutual understanding and friendship makes up the solid foundation for a good China-US relationship, and it is especially important to have more exchanges between the young people of the two countries, because they are the future of China-US relations. He also praised Wanxiang America Cooperation for setting up a very good example as a private company in promoting people-to-people exchanges between China and the United States,and expressed his hope that more Chinese enterprises will follow Wangxiang’s footprint.

The Wangxiang Ambassador Fellows Program is a part of the “100,000 Strong” initiative of the American government, an effort to increase the number of American students studying in China. According to the newly signed agreement, Wangxiang America Corporation will sponsor 30 students from the University of Chicago each year to travel to China for short-term study in the next 3 years.
