On April 19, Consul General Wang Baodong attended the appreciation event of the Chinese New Year Celebration Gala of the Chinese Community in the Greater Chicago Area jointly organized by the Chinese American Association at Greater Chicago (CAAGC) and the Association of Chinese American Scientists and Engineers (ASCE).

In his remarks, Consul General Wang affirmed the grand celebration of the first Chinese Spring Festival by the Chicago Chinese community after its inscription on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. He hoped that all Chinese associations would continue to actively show case the fine traditional Chinese culture and the good image of the Chinese community to the local society. Consul General Wang talked about China's position on the current China-U.S. relations, and hoped that the overseas Chinese in the consular district would give full play to their own advantages, build more bridges of friendship and cooperation, transform changes and challenges into new opportunities and hopes, and contribute to the steady and long-term development of China-U.S. relations.
