On October 11 and 12, Dong Fang Performing Arts Association in Chicago and Alliance of Minnesota Chinese Organizations respectively held the "Yellow River Cantata" concert and “Ode to Peace”cultural and artistic performance to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. Acting Consul General Zhang Yiqi, representatives of major local Chinese associations and relevant American dignitaries were present at the events.

In her speech, Zhang Yiqi stated that 80 years ago, the Chinese and American people fought side by side, jointly carving a historic mark in upholding peace and justice for mankind and forging deep friendship tempered by the flames of war. 80 years later, we should learn from history, draw wisdom and strength from the great victory, and persevere in our two-way efforts to lay a solid foundation for the steady and long-term development of China-U.S. relations, and inject more positive energy into safeguarding world peace and development.
