Chinese Consulate General in Chicago Held Symposium Commemorating 80th Anniversary of Taiwan's Restoration to China and Establishment of "Commemoration Day of Taiwan's Restoration"

On October 25, Chinese Consulate General in Chicago held a symposium to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Taiwan's restoration to China and the establishment of the "Commemoration Day of Taiwan's Restoration". Acting Consul General Zhang Yiqi attended and delivered a keynote speech. Representatives of overseas Chinese from both sides of the Taiwan Strait participated in the event.

Zhang Yiqi stated that Taiwan's restoration to China is an important achievement of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and an important piece of solid evidence that the Chinese government has resumed the exercise of sovereignty over Taiwan. It cannot be distorted or tampered with by any force.The establishment of the "Commemoration Day of Taiwan's Restoration" is to remember history, enhance national identity, strengthen national memory, build a unified will of reunification, and work together to realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. It is hoped that overseas Chinese will continue to care about and support the development of the motherland, firmly oppose “Taiwan independence” and promote reunification, and contribute more wisdom and strength to promoting the great cause of national reunification and rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
