The Chinese Consulate General in Chicago Held a Reception Celebrating the 76th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China

On September 17, the Consulate General of China in Chicago held a reception for celebration of the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, Consul General Wang Baodong attended and delivered a speech. The Mayor of Chicago Brandon Johnson and the Attorney General of Illinois State Kwame Raoul delivered written speeches. About 500 guests were present, including Chicago Deputy Mayor Beatriz Ponce de León, Regional Director for Office of Foreign Missions Chicago Lindsay Fair, friends from all walks of life in the U.S. Midwest, Consuls General of Multiple Countries, as well as representatives from Chinese enterprises, overseas Chinese students and Chinese community.

Consul General Wang Baodong highlighted the great achievements of the new era led by the Communist Party of China and promoted President Xi Jinping's initiatives on global governance and China's contribution to international poverty alleviation. He emphasized the historical significance of China's victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the joint efforts of China and the United States during the war. He pointed out that the two countries should earnestly implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state to ensure that China-U.S. relations develop steadily and sustainably, and stated that the Chinese Consulate General would take the 40th anniversary of its establishment as an opportunity to promote more fruitful outcomes in sub-national exchanges between China and the U.S..

The guests highly praised the achievements of Chinese path to modernization and expressed their wishes for the sound development of China-U.S. relations.
