On December 12, Consul General Wang Baodong attended the “Detroit China Day” and the 9th Chinese American Cultural Arts Festival in Michigan, and had a live dialogue with CBS Detroit TV host Carol Cain. The event was organized by the Michigan Chinese community together with the Detroit Office of Immigrant Affairs and the Michigan Asian Pacific American Affairs Commission, etc. Key elected officials of Michigan sent congratulations through letters and via videos. More than one hundred representatives from various sectors participated.

Consul General Wang introduced the important outcomes of the Busan summit between the Chinese President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Donald Trump, and the great significance of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the making of the 15th Five-Year Plan. He affirmed the contributions of the Chinese community to local economic and social development, and said that the Consulate General is willing to work with all sectors in Michigan to actively implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state, strengthen sub-national friendly exchanges and cooperation, and promote the stable  development of China-U.S. relations, so as to better benefit the people of both countries.
