On September 10, Consul General Wang Baodong was invited to attend a diplomatic roundtable hosted by Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson. More than 60 people, including senior municipal officials from the City of Chicago and consuls general from various countries in Chicago, attended the event. Consul General Wang Baodong elaborated on the significance of head-of-state diplomacy between China and the United States, as well as President Xi Jinping’s care and support for strengthening sub-national exchanges and cooperation between the two countries. He also exchanged views with Mayor Johnson on further strengthening the sister-city ties between China and Chicago and enhancing cooperation in areas such as cultural exchanges and the creative economy.
